7 reasons your acne keeps coming back, and how to finally stop it.

Sarah Johnsen, ND

"If you've already tried everything, from the expensive creams to the TikTok hacks, read this before you buy one more product."

Acne across the cheek and jaw before, and calm even skin after working from the inside out
Before
After

In short: What if your acne keeps coming back because you keep treating the wrong thing? Here's where it actually starts, and what finally breaks the cycle.

Illustration of an inflamed gut, where most acne actually starts
Reason 1

You're treating the surface (and the cause sits deeper).

You've tried creams. And cleansers. And those spot treatments that make your skin tingle, or just burn.

Your acne still comes back. Why?

Because almost everything you put on your face works on the symptom, not the source. It's like switching off the smoke alarm and leaving the fire burning.

Most acne starts on the inside, in your gut and your digestion. Ignore that, and you're taping a bandage over something deeper.

Reason 2

Your gut is out of balance, and your face is where it shows.

Your skin flares up. Usually along the jaw. Or right before your period. Sound familiar?

Here's the part most people never hear. Your gut and your skin are on the same line. When digestion slows down and waste doesn't clear, your body starts looking for another way out. Your skin is the biggest exit it has.

That's why creams never hold. They work where the acne shows up, not where it starts. You can layer product on top of that all year and the pattern won't change.

Acne isn't random. It follows your digestion.

The eleven botanicals in Clear Skin+ Max Detox laid out
Reason 3

Your body can't clear what it's holding (so it keeps coming back up).

Your skin renews itself every 28 to 40 days. But it can only do that if your body is clearing waste at the same speed it makes it. When it isn't, the backlog has to go somewhere.

That's the job the 11 botanicals in Clear Skin+ Max Detox do. Psyllium, açaí, inulin, slippery elm, aloe ferox, chlorella, black walnut hulls, ginger, hyssop, papaya and lycopene. Some of them bind. Some of them move things along. Some calm things down.

Could you get all of that from food? In theory. Almost nobody does. Not all of them, not on the same day, not while you're stressed and busy.

No wonder your skin keeps protesting.

"This product has really worked wonders for me. My skin has never been so clear and it has really helped with my digestive issues. I saw results pretty quickly too!"
A bathroom shelf packed with cleansers, toners and serums, the surface-only routine
Reason 4

Your routine is making it worse (and you can't tell).

You think: "It stings, so it's working."

A cleanser that leaves your skin tight. A toner with alcohol. A spot treatment that makes your whole chin peel.

But your skin is getting drier, redder and more reactive. And you keep using it, because you've been told that's part of the deal.

Here's what nobody tells you. A lot of acne products are built to dry out or disinfect, and they wreck your skin barrier doing it. A weak barrier inflames faster and makes more oil.

So you add another product. And another step. More products, more steps, same cycle. That's the loop.

Tired of treatments that only calm the surface for a week
Reason 5

What you've tried only cleared the top layer.

You start something new. The breakout fades. You think: "Finally, this is it."

Then two weeks later it's back. Sound familiar?

That's because most of what you've tried, from the drugstore shelf to the prescription pad, quiets the surface. It doesn't change what's feeding the breakout underneath.

And as long as that's still there, your skin keeps falling back into the same pattern. Clear for a bit. Then not. Then clear again.

You don't need a faster fix. You need the cycle to stop.

"Been to the derm. Tried the creams. Changed my pillowcases twice a week. Washed my face religiously. Nothing worked because I was ignoring my gut. Max Detox was the missing piece of the puzzle. 6 weeks and clear skin. Finally."
Two women copying a viral skincare hack that was never built for their skin
Reason 6

What works on TikTok wasn't built for you.

You see someone with glowing skin and 300,000 likes. She swears by an ice mask, a DIY serum, a cleanser you've never heard of. And you try it. Because what if this is the one?

But what goes viral isn't always what your skin needs.

No two guts are the same. You watch an influencer for a few seconds. You don't know what she eats, where she is in her cycle, how stressed she is, or what else she's taking. You only see the result. And half the time that's good lighting and a filter.

It makes sense that you keep hoping. But without fixing the inside, you'll keep jumping from hack to hack.

Clear skin after the 60 day Clear Skin+ Max Detox protocol
Reason 7

Nothing holds until you work from the inside out.

You've tried everything. Serums, scrubs, supplements. Sometimes it looked like it was working, but never for long. Your skin stayed unsettled. So did your confidence.

That's not bad luck. As long as you only treat the outside, you're mopping the floor with the tap still running.

Clear Skin+ Max Detox works the other way round. 11 botanicals that support your digestion and your body's own detox pathways, so your skin stops paying for what your gut can't clear.

Just 2 capsules a day. Third-party lab tested for heavy metals, microbes and purity. Made in the USA. And if your skin doesn't improve, you get every cent back for 90 days.

"Accutane twice. Antibiotics for a year. Prescription retinoids. Thousands on skincare. NOTHING fixed my acne permanently. Max Detox did it in 6 weeks. Turns out my gut was the problem the whole time. I'm equal parts relieved and frustrated that it took me this long to figure out."
"My mum said I look like a different person and honestly she's right. 7 weeks on Max Detox and my entire complexion has changed. Less spots, less scarring, less redness. It's not just clearer skin, it's healthier skin."

I have perfect usage, I haven’t missed a day, and I still have acne. It’s gotten better but it’s not gone

Have been taking the supplements for a month now, was a bit rough in the beginning but getting much better. My skin feels less inflamed, I've been going to the bathroom more consistently. Hoping it will continue clearing everything out.

We have tried so many things for my teenage daughter's acne, and none of them have worked for more than a few weeks. Her skin seems to be clearing up so much better with this treatment from the inside out. It think she still has some ways to go, but I know itntakes time.

I did the 3 month protocol. It definitely improved the acne on my face, and on my back as well. It didn't make it fully go away, however. Every time I have my period I still get deep, painful cysts, especially on my back, which is a hormonal issue. This did help to heal my gut and make me regular, as before I was struggling with constipation and gut issues, which was definitely contributing to my breakouts. Just make sure you drink PLENTY of water while taking it. All in all, I'd say this is worth it and I would use it again if I needed it. I am going to try another detox supplement (chlorella) for a while and see how that goes. But I would recommend this product to anyone with gut and skin problems.
